HEIKE BLAKLEY

The Artist

Based in Austin, TX.

Heike Blakley is a self-taught, emerging artist working with a wide array of mediums such as acrylic, oil, watercolor, pencil, charcoal, pastel, mixed media, pen & ink.

Also specializing in resin art, jewelry making, woodwork, clay sculptures, fabric art and poetry.

Using her creativity as a form of learning and for meditative purposes, she is determined to, “absorb as much “collective knowledge,” as she is able to grasp in one lifetime and effectively communicate understanding through art.”

Heike gains inspiration through spirituality, the conscious/ subconscious mind, studying esoteric natures of the universe, her interactions with others, the environment as well as understanding herself.

Combining surrealism, figure, abstract, textured, fine and visual art, she describes her process as “eclectic art”.

ABOUT

Before man could speak, they communicated with pictures, gestures and sound.

As time progressed, with evolution and historical events from past and recent, it has become much easier for our society to form an immediate bias.

technology, politics, race, gender, religion etc. has made authentic communication and feelings of collectiveness have become next to impossible.

With the use of, " Alien like," figures in a majority of my work. I hope to be able to effectively diminish the possibility of misinterpretation and increase the likelihood of getting  messages across through my work.

aside from the fact that I have a slight obsession with Aliens;  I felt it could be an interesting way to showcase the feelings of alienating others while being Alienated ourselves.

Highly motivated creatively.

I am determined to absorb as much,
"Collective Knowledge, " the Universe is able to provide me ( in one lifetime) and somehow inspire others to do the same.

my commitment to this has given me the opportunities to gain understanding in various art forms and constructively implement them into my work.

I truly believe, "In a reality where nothing is real, anything is possible. So I want to try everything."
